PURPOSE: An electromagnetic actuating device for driving a bond head of a wire bonder is provided to remove a vibration of the bond head and to avoid distortion of a bearing for the bond head. CONSTITUTION: An electromagnetic actuating device includes a stationary stator (2) and a coil (3) associated with the stator (2) in order to move an operating system (1) on a plane. The stator (2) does not contact with the coil (3). A rotating portion (6) of the coil (3) is wound up to be a curved shape such an arc with respect to center of gravity (5) of the operating system (1). The center of the arc corresponds to the center of gravity (5) of the operating system (1). Thus, a force (F) which is applied to the coil (3) by the stator (2) always directs to the center of gravity (5) of the operating system (1) regardless of the current position of the coil (3) relative to the stator (2). And, the actuating device does not impart any momentum to the operating system (1).
