The present invention relates to a composition suitable for the production of single crystal refractory formulation in admixture with the refractory particles, the composition comprises 2 to 10 parts by weight of activated alumina, alumino-silicate-phosphate compound, an aldehyde and an amine or an aromatic hydroxy compound derived from the resin, cellulose, polyethylene glycol, methoxy and ethoxy in addition polyethylene glycol consisting of more than one substance from 0.25 to 1.0 parts by weight and, optionally, 0 to 50 parts by weight of fine alumina, fine silica 0 to 10 parts by weight of a dispersing agent and 0 to 1 wt. consists in part essentially free of, aluminum, calcium cement 0 to 1 parts by weight (preferably substantially no). In use, since even in the case of a good green strength to be cast at a temperature below room temperature, and the operation it is easy, when the high temperature properties (hot-cut rate, etc.) and good cold crushing strength after burning.
