A rubber material consists of a layer of vulcanised rubber (1) integrally fused on at least 1 surface to a 0.02-1.0 mm thick layer of non-porous and homogenised thermoplastic polyurethane (2). Peel strength between the layers is at least 1.2 Kg/cm. Pref. (2) is prepd. from a polymeric glycol (polyester, polyether or polycarbonate diol); a diisocyanate; and a chain extender e.g. low mol. wt. diol or diamine. Pref. the polyol component contains at least 15 wt.% polyether diol. The material is useful in the mfr. of belts, hoses, rubber-backed cloth and leather, etc., having excellent friction resistance, oil resistance, and cleavage resistance against ozone.
