The present invention relates to a bis (aryl) acetal having the following structure (1):

2 may be directly connected to each other. Y is a boron-containing functional group or a leaving group bonded to Ar
2 through a boron atom. Bis (aryl) acetal is acid - is useful as a monomer that can be polymerized to give a polymer having a skeleton sensitivity.
