In an aspect of the present invention, a stator for an electric machine includes a multi-conductor coil. Each coil forms a loop that re-entry to the core extending axially through the core and passing through the long core through the end face through the end face. A first subset of the coil to form a first radially outer layer in the axial direction in the core and a third layer radially as a whole in the axial direction on the outer side of the core. Each coil in the first subset are arranged in both the first layer and the third layer. The second subset of the coil form a fourth layer radially the second radial layer in the axial direction on the outer side of the core and in the axial direction on the outer side of the core. Each coil in the second subset are arranged in both the second layer and the fourth layer. In another aspect, the electrical machine comprises a stator winding having a plurality of holding parts of the conductive coil. The first subset of coils is a first shape and a second subset of the second coil shape. In some embodiments, the first shape is a lap winding configuration the second shape is a configuration concentric windings.
