Public transport vehicles, especially light-weight and non-square carpet tiles suitable for use in aircraft. Carpet tile preferably has a weight of less than about 82 ounces per square yard. Carpet tile of the present invention may be carpet having a backing layer and at least one file. The backing layer may be a light-weight filler material. A second plastic backing material can be compacted in the tile structure by using a pressure roller or other pressing process on the improved tile production line. Carpet tile meets the transportation industry standards for flame, smoke and toxicity. Tile can be installed in a configuration that minimizes the number of tiles required size is tailored in size during the production and minimizes the need to cut the tiles during installation. If the tile pattern used in these orthogonal to ambiguous or otherwise it may be suitable for "random" installation. In another embodiment, the passenger room can be installed in the aircraft without removing the seat from the carpet kind comprising a floor which is rectangular carpet tile installation aircraft.
