The present invention provides an improved personal video recorder (PVR) and the interactive television program guide method and system for providing a (IPG) function. Interactive television application (the application) can be implemented to provide this functionality. The application is used to display a list of PVR recordings, and to delete priority settings for a recording reservation to the PVR, recordings configuration: reserved recording list, the recording setting or configuration recordings. The application is, pay-per-view may incorporate (pay-per-view) and a PVR function. The application may inform the user about the change is applied to the recorded contents of the PVR. The application may buffer the live broadcast program, using the direct buffer that is generated for each new program. Using a plurality of tuners, it is possible to implement a parallel buffer for the program to be broadcast at the same time. Direct buffer may be used in the management or control of the program flow. TV content may be automatically paused as if the user is to use the application. A plurality of IPG can be implemented for different users of the PVR. Other PVR related features may also be provided.
