Portable plasma arc torch system can be used to process the material. The system includes a replaceable or rechargeable power supply and a replaceable or rechargeable gas source. The controller communicates with at least one power or gas supply source. Plasma transfer mechanism produces a plasma arc at the output of the plasma transport mechanism receives the current from the power source to supply gas from a gas source via the controller. Plasma arc may be used to process materials such as metallic workpiece. The plasma arc torch may include a wearable portable assembly that includes a replaceable or rechargeable electric power and the gas supply source. Plasma transfer mechanism receives the current from the power source in the assembly supply gas from a gas source in the assembly to generate a plasma arc.
