A system and method with time by using the power scheme proposed to disperse a plurality of NVM parallel operation to limit the power consumption of the non-volatile memory (NVM) is disclosed. This provides a "current drain cap" that secure the upper limit of the current draw of the NVM by removing peak power events. In one embodiment, the power consumption of the NVM can be limited by receiving data suitable for use as a factor in the current to adjust the threshold value from the at least one source of a plurality of source systems. Current threshold will be lower than the peak current that may be consumed by the NVM, it may be adjusted based on the received data.
