There is provided a method for viewing video clips bookmarking. The method includes establishing communication via a first network element and the wide area network to the at least one bookmark exists. Bookmarks include metadata that identifies the bookmarking a video clip of a video program, and specifies the network address of a bookmarked video clip are located. Upon user request, the metadata associated with the bookmark specified is received. Using the network address of the specified bookmarked video clips provided in the metadata, the first video clip is the specified bookmarked location network element and the second communication is established. The bookmarking a video clip is received from the second network element. The bookmarking video clip is encoded according to the digital rights management schemes. Bookmarking a video clip is being rendered password is released.
