PURPOSE: A packing material is provided to obtain high sealability by low tightening surface pressure, to release efforts for maintenance, and to maintain high sealability for long time. CONSTITUTION: A packing material consists of knitting yarn. The knitting yarn consists of a core material(1) and a coating material(2) woven to a cylindrical shape in order to coat an outer surface of the core material. The core material formed of fluorine rubber or silicon rubber. The coating material consists of fiber or a composite of the fiber selected from aramid fiber, carbonized fiber, PTFE fiber, phenol resin fiber, polyimide fiber, polyamide fiber, poly(para-phenylenebenzoxazole) fiber.
