The present invention relates to a rolling tool, pitching, alternative embodiment of the tool in such a way that does not have a singular point in the yaw having a wrist mechanism that provides pitch and yaw rotations. In one embodiment, the minimally invasive surgical instruments include a long shaft and the end effector having working end, the shaft between the proximal end and working end and a base end axis. Wrist member has a flexible tube with an axis extending through an interior surrounded by a wall. The wall of the flexible tube includes a plurality of lumens oriented generally parallel to the axis of the flexible tube. Wrist member has a proximal end portion and a distal portion connected to the end effector attached to the working end of the elongate shaft. A plurality of actuation cables have distal portions connected to the end effector, and extends toward the elongate shaft to the proximal end portion of the movable member from the distal portion to the wrist bending in pitch and yaw rotation through the lumens of the wall of the wrist member.
