본 발명은 메타머티리얼의 특성을 이용한 하나 이상의 메타머티리얼 유닛을 포함하되, 방사 패치와 기판 사이에 용량성 커플링 소자를 추가하여 메타머티리얼 유닛의 리액턴스 성분을 조절함으로써, 더욱 소형화됨과 아울러 공진 주파수의 조절이 용이한 다중 대역 안테나 및 이를 포함하는 통신 장치를 제공한다.
본 발명에 의하면, 메타머티리얼을 사용한 안테나의 방사 패치와 기판 사이에 용량성 커플링 소자를 추가하여 방사 패치와 기판 사이에 존재하는 병렬 커패시턴스 값을 조절하기 때문에, 기판의 변형 없이 병렬 커패시턴스를 조절할 수 있는 효과가 있다.
