A communication system and a method for providing a real time television watching service by using a video call path are provided to perform real time streaming of video and voice information of a program, currently broadcasted in a television broadcasting station, only by requesting a video call for a phone number selected or inputted in each terminal of users, thereby providing the user with a fast television broadcasting watching service. A communication system(200) comprises an MS(Mobile Station)(210), a base station(220), a core network(230), a broadcasting watching service system(240) and a streaming/encoding system(250). In the broadcasting watching service system, an automatic response system(241) sets a service path between an origination phone number and a destination phone number in response to a call connection request. A conversion server(242) searches for a broadcasting channel address corresponding to the destination phone number, and converts streaming data of a corresponding broadcasting channel, received after performing streaming request according to the broadcasting channel address, in a previously designated codec mode. A transmission server(244) transmits the converted streaming data to the origination phone number.
