PURPOSE: A method and a system for controlling a host device connected with a display device through a digital visual interface are provided to allow the display device to control the host device connected through the DVI. CONSTITUTION: A user inputs control data through a data input unit of a display device(S100). A corresponding control data code of the inputted control data is judged. The judged corresponding control data code is converted into a DVI standard control code(S200). The DVI standard control code is transmitted to a host device connected through a DVI cable(S300). The host device converts the transmitted DVI standard control code into a control data code of the host device(S400). The host device performs a control operation according to the control data code(S500).
