This control device has a control unit that performs transmission control for a variator of a belt stepless transmission by referring to a plurality of maps indicating a relationship between a target stroke speed and difference thrust, wherein the maps include a down-shift map that is referred to when the variator is to be down-shifted, and an up-shift map that is referred to when the variator is to be up-shifted, and the inclination of the target stroke speed with respect to the difference thrust in the down-shift map is larger than that of the target stroke speed with respect to the difference thrust in the up-shift map.
