PURPOSE:To raise a high speed property and exactitude with regard to a desired track selecting function in a process of a picture access, at the time of video reproducing which corresponds to a special effect containing a still frame reproducing. CONSTITUTION:At the time of still frame reproducing, a movable head 1 is controlled by a track follow-up servo-circuit 9, and picks up and outputs a video signal corresponding to a still frame through a prescribed periodical scanning along a track which becomes an object to be reproduced. A movable head position detecting circuit 2 detects a moving position following the periodical scanning of the movable head 1, generates a signal and outputs it to a sample holding circuit 3. In accordance with the periodical scanning of the movable head 1, a position detecting signal generated in the movable head position detecting circuit 2 and sent to the sample holding circuit 3 forms a saw tooth wave signal corresponding to the periodical scanning of the movable head 1.
