PURPOSE: To fully automate paper winding in a paper machine for improving substantially the efficiency and rate of operation by supplying a core between rotary rollers provided in parallel horizontally and pressing the core against a rider roller to take up a sheet of paper automatically around the core.
CONSTITUTION: A winder in a paper machine supplies a core 3 between a front roller 1 and a rear roller 2 connected to DC motors 6, 7 respectively and presses the core 3 against a rider roller 14 so that a sheet of paper 4 is trained over one roller to wind the sheet around the core 3. The leading end of the sheet 4 is held by an attraction section 21 of the roller 2 to adjust the projecting length of leading end with the rotation of the roller 2. The rider roller 14 is lowered and an adhesive injector 18 travels while adhesives are sprayed to the core 3. The core 3 and the roller 2 are rotated and the adhesive spray position is located between the core 3 and the roller 2 for adhesion. Next, the rollers 1,2 are rotated with low speed to take up the sheet 4 around the core 3 while removing the sag of the sheet 4 to wind the sheet with high speed. The sheet 4 is adhered to the wound-up roll and cut off to pushed out the roll by an ejector 15.
