PURPOSE:To prepare a solid fuel similar to oval briquet, ordinary briquet, etc. having high calorific value and free of problems of emitting odor and smoke, by kneading crushed and carbonized petroleum coke, charcoal powder, slaked lime, and a binder at specific ratios, and forming and drying the mixture. CONSTITUTION:Petroleum coke is calcined to remove the component volatile at =60 mesh. 100pts.wt. of A mixture composed of 80-50 pts.wt. of the crushed petroleum coke and 20-50pts.wt. of charcoal powder is mixed with 10-20pts.wt. of slaked lime and 1-5pts.wt. of a binder (e.g. carboxymethyl cellulose, starch paste, etc.). The mixture is kneaded in the presence of water or other liquid optionally with heating, formed to the shape of oval briquet or ordinary briquet, and dried to obtain the objective solid fuel.
