PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic process for inspecting a light emitting state of an xenon discharge tube (work) before completion and to enhance accuracy of light emitting inspection. SOLUTION: A light emitting inspection is performed as follows: A plate shape positive electrode 130 contacted with a positive-electrode-side lead 18 of a work 92, a plate shape negative electrode 132 contacted with a negative- electrode-side lead 22, and a plate shape trigger electrode 134 contacted with a glass tube 12 of the work 92 are provided with an inspection head. A metallic positive electrode member 160, a negative electrode member 162, and a trigger electrode member 164 are provided with a bearer, and each nips a positive- electrode-side lead 18 of the work 92 with the positive electrode 130 and positive electrode member 160 each kept at the same potential. The glass tube 12 of the work 92 is nipped with the trigger electrode 134 and the trigger electrode member 164 each kept at the same potential.
