PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical recording material having such optical properties that it is CD compatible, forms properties having sufficient contrast as a result of bonding to incident laser beams and has light stability and dark (incubation) stability by using a metallized formazan pigment having a specified refractive index. SOLUTION: This material contains a metallized formazan pigment having an imaginary part refractive index (k) of 0.03-0.07. The low-k metallized formazan has a structure represented by the formula (wherein R) is a 1-12 C alkyl or an alkyl substituted with at least one group selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl groups, acyloxy groups, alkoxyl groups, etc., an aryl or an alkyl-substituted or alkoxyl-substituted aryl; and R2 is sulfonylmorpholine, sulfonamide, halogen, cyano, alkoxycarbonyl or alkylsulfonyl).
