PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound useful as e.g. a raw material for plasticizers, heat-resistant resins, antistatic agents, lubricants, coating materials, adhesives, dispersants, surfactants, cement admixtures, etc. SOLUTION: This new compound is expressed by the formula (R is H or allyl), e.g. N-allyl methylendomethylenetetrahydrophthalic acid half amide. The compound of the formula is obtained, for example, by reaction of methylendomethylenetetrahydrophthalic anhydride with an allylamine compound (pref. at 0.9-1.2 equivalent based on the acid anhydride) at 10-100 deg.C.
