PURPOSE:To provide the subject device which can maintain stable blue-emitting characteristics over a long term. CONSTITUTION:This device is formed by successively laminating an anode, a hole transport layer, an org. luminescent layer, and a cathode to provide the organic luminescent layer which contains an oxazole metal complex of the formula (wherein R to R are each independently H, halogen, alkyl, aralkyl, alkenyl, allyl, cyano, amino, amide, alkoxycarbonyl, carboxyl, alkoxy, an optionally substd. arom. hydrocarbon group, or an optionally substd. arom. heterocyclic group; M is Be, Zn, Cd, Al, Ga, In, Sc, Y, Mg, Ca, Sr, Co, Cu, or Ni; and (n) is an integer of 1-3).
