To provide a method for producing a rubber composition having excellent silica dispersibility, and a method for producing a rubber molding having excellent silica dispersibility and exhibiting low heat build-up properties even during deformation.SOLUTION: [1] A method for producing a rubber composition comprises: a step (1) of kneading a composition containing 30-200 pts.mass of silica (B), 1-8 pts.mass of a polysulfide-based silane coupling agent (C), and 0.02-10 pts.mass of a specific thiol compound (D) based on 100 pts.mass of a rubber component (A) at 140°C or higher to obtain a rubber kneaded product; and a step (2) of adding sulfur to the obtained rubber kneaded product and mixing them. [2] A method for producing a rubber molding comprises a step of vulcanizing the rubber composition obtained by the aforementioned method.SELECTED DRAWING: None
