To provide a transport device and a control method of the transport device, which can reduce forgetting to change setting of an arm entry position when a size of a work material changes.SOLUTION: An arm device 12 of a transport device is connected to a door 6 and moves along a traveling shaft 18. An arm portion 122 of the arm device 12 is rotatable toward a cover 5, and has a grip portion 23 at an end for gripping a work material. The transport device moves the arm device 12 to open an opening 511, enters the arm portion 122 into the cover 5, and transports the work material gripped by the grip portion 23 into the cover 5. The transport device sets an arm entry position to a Q position. The arm entry position is a position on a traveling shaft 18 where both the grip portion 23 and the work material do not interfere with a wall portion 512 when the arm device 12 is entered through the opening 511. The transport device sets the arm entry position for each work material. Therefore, when the user changes the work material, the transport device can reduce the possibility of forgetting to change the setting of the arm entry position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
