To provide a liquid crystal display device having high resolution and high contrast with a simple structure.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate; a second substrate; a liquid crystal layer; a plurality of first electrodes 15 provided above the first substrate and separated from one another; a plurality of wiring portions 13 provided above the first substrate and disposed closer to the first substrate than the plurality of first electrodes; an insulation film 14 provided between the plurality of first electrodes and the plurality of wiring portions; and at least one second electrode 17 provided above the second substrate and disposed to oppose to the plurality of first electrodes. The first electrodes are arranged into rows along a first direction in a plan view. Each wiring portion extends in the first direction in a plan view and disposed to overlap the first electrode in a plan view; and each wiring portion is connected to any one of the first electrodes through an opening in the insulation film.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
