Tangential cutting insert (10) has two side surfaces located on the opposite side (12) to each other, and a peripheral surface extending between their sides (14). Peripheral surface (14) has the same four end faces (18). Intersection line between the end surface and the side surface comprises a primary cutting edge (20). Line of intersection of the end surface adjacent to the end face includes a minor cutting edge (24). The main cutting edge (20) and secondary cutting edge (24) each have a rake surface extending inwardly of the cutting insert (10) (34). Looking at the cutting insert from the side, the main cutting edge (22) is concave.
