PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating machine capable of spot-coating a transfer body with a thick layer, and a coating method using the coating machine.SOLUTION: A coating machine 100 comprises: a first coating unit 120 including an ink fountain 126 for reserving transparent ink, a fountain roller 125 for extracting the transparent ink in the ink fountain 126, a swing roller 124 confronting the fountain roller 125, an application roller 123 confronting the swing roller 124, a plate cylinder 122 confronting the application roller 123, and a first impression cylinder 121 confronting the plate cylinder 122 and supporting and transferring a sheet 1; and a second coating unit 130 including a second impression cylinder 131 arranged on the downstream side of the first coating unit 120 in the transfer direction of the sheet 1 for supporting and transferring the sheet 1, a coater cylinder 132 confronting the second impression cylinder 131, an anilox roller 133 for feeding varnish to the coater cylinder 132, and a chamber 134.
