PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lane recognition method and system for recognizing a position of a lane where a vehicle is positioned, by use of a radar and a camera.SOLUTION: The method of recognizing the lane where the vehicle is positioned, by use of an object detector for detecting positions of fixed objects located on the left and right sides of a road in a traveling direction and a video imaging device for capturing a forward road surface video image includes the steps of: acquiring the positions of the fixed objects by means of the object detector; acquiring the forward road surface video image by means of the video imaging device; calculating a total width Width of a travel road on the basis of the positions of the fixed objects located on the left and right sides; calculating a width Lane_W of a travel lane from the road surface video image; and calculating a lane Current_Lane where the vehicle is positioned, on the basis of the calculated width Lane_W of the travel lane and the calculated total width Width of the travel road.
