Greenhouse gases (e.g., carbon dioxide) method for producing a diaryl carbonate is disclosed that may provide production of diaryl carbonates from. The disclosed method, eliminating advantageously integrates the preparation of diethyl carbonate and diaryl carbonate, the need for extractive distillation based solvents such as normally required when producing diaryl carbonate from dimethyl carbonate and, to provide the integration of separation equipment and raw materials used, to reduce the operating and capital requirements for the method. In some embodiments, methods disclosed herein may be operated in essentially a closed loop with respect to for example ethanol use.
