PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device with a high quality display device and a touch panel, having a thickness designed in a flexible range with high accuracy according to the characteristics of a liquid crystal to be used or according to a driving method without using any particulate spacers.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a display device having a first substrate, a second substrate, and a plurality of columnar spacers disposed between the first and the second substrates, and a touch panel including an optical detection element. The mechanical strength is reinforced by the columnar spacers, in order to provide a robust panel.
