PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a hydrogenated monomer such as cyclopentadiene, capable of producing a cyclic olefinic polymer compound.SOLUTION: The method produces a compound represented by chemical formula 12 by using a palladium compound coordinated with an N-heterocycle carbene as a catalyst and selectively hydrogenating an olefin group of a compound represented by chemical formula 11. In the formula, n=0 to 10.
