PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mono-layer article and multi-layer article that have a formable material and a method of extrusion-molding the article.SOLUTION: In a preferred embodiment, at least a portion of a preform 30 comprises expandable (expandable or inflatable) material that can expand to form a thermal barrier or a desired finish. The preform 30 is heated to a temperature suitable for blow molding and at least a portion of the expandable material expands. The preform is blow molded into a container 37. In one arrangement, the preform is a mono-layer preform. In another arrangement, the preform is a multi-layer preform.
