PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polypeptides having an amylase activity, polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides, and methods for making and using these polynucleotides and polypeptides.SOLUTION: There are provided: polypeptide comprising a sequence having at least 70% or more, or complete (100%) sequence identity to a specific amino acid sequence and having α-amylase activity, or a nucleic acid encoding the polypeptide; a transformed cell containing the nucleic acid; and methods for making the recombinant polypeptide using the transformed cell.
