PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vaccine safe and effective against malaria infections, and a vector used for producing the vaccine, and to further provide a bivalent vaccine exhibiting excellent protective effects on measles virus and the malaria infections, and eliminating complicatedness during inoculation.
SOLUTION: A recombinant measles virus in which a gene encoding a protein associated with onset protection against the malaria infections is inserted into a measles virus genome is provided. The protein associated with the onset protection against the malaria infections is preferably selected from among pfEMP-1, MAEBL, AMA-1, MSP-1, LSA-1, Pfs230 etc. Furthermore, there is provided the bivalent vaccine for the measles and malaria infections containing the recombinant measles virus, and even an antiserum obtained from a body fluid collected from an animal infected with the recombinant measles virus. In addition, there is provided a method for producing the vaccine for the malaria infections including using the measles virus as the vaccine vector in producing the vaccine for the malaria infections.
