PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight and pressure-tight lid which is intended for closing an opening on an upper section of a vacuum vessel made of metal or FRP. SOLUTION: The lid is intended for closing the opening of the vacuum vessel having the lid on its upper section and is characterized in that the lid has a sandwich-structure wherein a foam body or a honeycomb structural body are coated with fiber-reinforced composite material, and has an upper part which is dome-shaped. The lid is manufactured in such a manner that the foam body or the honeycomb structural body are coated with a prepreg material and formed, or in such a manner that the foam body or the honeycomb structural body are coated with fiber-reinforced material and formed by RTM molding method.
