PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus which stably guides a document to a reading position to accurately transport and read the document. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus includes: a second reading part 25, which is fixedly disposed in a reading position 25a and reads an image of a passing document; a second reading roller 26, which is disposed in opposition to a reading surface 25b of the second reading part 25 so as to push the document passing the reading position 25a toward the reading surface 25b and is moved in accordance with displacement of the second reading part 25 so as to keep a certain gap from the second reading part; and a slope 301a of a guide member 301, which is fixed to the second reading roller 26 and a bearing 302 pivotally supporting the second reading roller 26 and is disposed above the second reading roller 26 and the bearing 302 in a document carrying direction and guides the document toward the reading surface 25b of the second reading part 25.
