PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide write once recordable optical disc, and to provided a method and an apparatus for recovering defective information on the write once recordable recording medium (e.g. ED-WO).
SOLUTION: A method is provided with a temporary defect management area (TDMA) for recording a temporary defect list (TDFL) as defect management information for managing a defective area on an optical disk, cumulatively records the latest temporary defect list (TDFL) in the temporary defect management area (TDMA) together with the above temporary defect list (TDFL), and records position information specifying a position of the latest temporary defect list (TDFL) in the temporary defect management area (TDMA) together with the temporary defect list. Thereby, management of the temporary defect management area (TDMA) is more efficiently performed.
