PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier belt for wet paper webs which has a machine side layer thereof causing little friction and little abrasion.
SOLUTION: A carrier belt 10 for wet paper webs includes both a wet paper web side layer 20 containing a hydrophilic fiber 41 and a machine side layer 23. The machine side layer 23 is a batting layer containing a core-sheath conjugated fiber composed of a core component made of a high-melting nylon and a sheath component made of a nylon having a melting point lower than that of the core component and the surface of the machine side layer 23 is formed with a fusion layer of the sheath component.
