PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brush having new distribution of bristles without excessively complicating manufacture thereof.
SOLUTION: A brush for applying a substance to keratinous fibers is provided, which includes a twisted core (10) defining turns and bristles (11) extending from the twisted core (10). The bristles (11) includes at least two deformed bristles (12) clamped between two adjacent turns (10a, 10b) of the twisted core. The deformed bristles (12) may have a length wherein at least at one point along the length each of the at least two deformed bristles includes either removal of material at the at least one point, stretching of material at least at the one point, or flattening at the at least one point. Each of the at least two deformed bristles extend outward from the at least one point in a non-radial manner.
