PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive process for depositing a protective coating capable of prolonging the service life of a part having a complicated shape at all applicable industry.
SOLUTION: A silicon-containing substrate provided or not provided with an arbitrary bond coating layer 12 and an intermediate layer 14 is immersed in a slurry. After a base coat is formed, the substrate is dried, heat-treated so as to form the protective coating and cooled. The slurry comprises an aqueous solution, a supply source of a rare earth oxide and one or plural transient liquid additives, and the aqueous solution comprises a fluid having the affinity to the supply source of hafnium oxide, the transient fluid additive, the substrate and a deposited layer thereof.
