A plurality of step chain links of linked passenger conveyor system so as to form a continuous loop (20) (30, 130, 230) is made of die cast metal, stamped metal or laser cutting metal. Each step chain links (30, 130, 230) includes a plurality of teeth made of a material of first member for engaging the drive member (36) (32, 132, 232). In some embodiments, plates containing teeth (294) of the injection molded plastic is snapped to the link so as to inhibit corrosion.
