PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of being unable to ensure the security of data against loss or theft. SOLUTION: A security system 1 for a USB memory has a portable USB memory 2 having a data storage part 22 for storing data, and a management terminal 3 for managing security by communicating with the USB memory 2 by radio. The USB memory 2 has a timer time monitoring part 29D which starts counting deletion timer time upon detecting a deletion timer start command coming from the management terminal 3, and which determines whether or not the deletion timer time is up; and a memory side storage control part 29B which, when the deletion timer time is determined to be up, deletes the data stored in the data storage part.
