PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new aluminium oxy compound useful as an addition polymerization catalyst component capable of producing high molecular weight olefinic polymer at a high yield by using with a transition metal compound, to provide an addition polymerization catalyst using the new aluminum oxy compound, to provide a method for producing the olefin polymer by using the addition polymerization catalyst, to provide a method for producing an alkenylaromatic hydrocarbon polymer, and to provide a high molecular weight copolymer. SOLUTION: The copolymer is a copolymer of an alkenylaromatic hydrocarbon with olefins and having ≥700,000 number average molecular weight (Mn) and 1.85-2.5 molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) represented by the ratio of the weight average molecular weight (Mw) to the number average molecular weight (Mn).
