PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a design for reducing vibration transmitted to an MRI low-temperature tank by an expander. SOLUTION: A two-stage pulse tube refrigerator having a compact design, low vibration and low thermal loss is provided; and, in this case, it is preferable both the stages are coaxial with each other in the state where at least the second stage is coaxial, the second-stage pulse tube is located at the center, the first-stage pulse tube occupies an annular space between the second-stage pulse tube and a first-stage regenerator. Convective loss related to different temperature profiles in the pulse tubes and the regenerators is minimized by shifting thermal patterns in the pulse tubes with respect to the regenerators by one or more spacers in the regenerators, the difference of physical length from gas passage connection, adjustment of a direct current flow and a heat escape path.
