PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching power supply having a smoothing capacitor at a primary side at which soft switching is made so that an AC input current becomes a sinusoidal wave.
SOLUTION: Second primary winding N2 of a transformer T1, primary winding N1, and a switching element M1 are connected in series between the positive and negative electrodes of a rectifying circuit DB in an AC power supply. A primary smoothing capacitor C1 is connected between the connection section of the second and first primary windings N2, N1 of the transformer T1 and the negative electrode of the rectifying circuit DB. Secondary winding N3 is connected to a secondary smoothing capacitor C2 so that the secondary side of the transformer T1 is outputted in a forward type.
