PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gelling agent for an organic liquid, having high gelling power, high gel-sol transition temperature and high decomposition temperature of the gelling agent, free from metal group accelerating the oxidative degradation and stable at high temperature and provide a gelled organic liquid produced by using the agent and a lubricant containing the gelled product.
SOLUTION: The gelling agent for an organic liquid is composed of an amide compound expressed by the general formula (R
1 is an aliphatic polycarboxylic acid residue; R
2 is an aromatic organic group; and (a) is an integer of 2-6). The invention further relates to a gelled organic liquid produced by using the agent and a lubricant containing the gelled product.
