PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for detecting the presence of a specific substance in air, a filter for an air conditioner capable of confirming the presence of the specific substance in air and a method for confirming a capacity for removing the specific substance of the filter of the air conditioner and/or the lifetime thereof. SOLUTION: The specific substance present in air passing through the filter is detected on the basis of the color change of a color development sensor, constituted of the receptor molecule specifically coupled with the specific substance in air and a polymer molecule changed into a light absorption characteristics by the coupling of the specific substance with the receptor molecule.
