PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection device and a diesel engine comprising the device, improving smoke color in the low load state and decreasing NOx in the high load state. SOLUTION: When operating in the injection rate control operation mode for restraining the initial injection, a control means 24 operates a pressure reducing means 25 and decreases pressure of fuel supplied to a fuel injection valve 15 through a first accumulator 11.
