PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alternatively crystallized finish of a device or preform and its manufacturing process. SOLUTION: A finish (22) of a preform (20) or container has a polymer structure which can at least partially crystallize. The finish (22) has a primary end (26) spaced from a body (24) of the preform (20), a second end (30) contiguous to the body (24) and an intermediate part (28) between them. The primary end (26) of the finish (22) has an end surface (32) while the primary end (26) and the intermediate part (28) of the finish (22) make a consecutive interior surface (36) and a consecutive exterior surface (34). The grade of crystallization of the finish (22) varies gradually from a crystallized surface part to an essentially non-crystallized inner part of the finish (22). COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
